With Christmas quickly becoming a popular time of year for couples to tie the knot, and with it being only a few weeks away, now is a good time to start thinking about your wedding favors.
Wedding favors for a festive wedding do not all have to be candy canes and personalized tree decorations. Be more creative and indulge in the spirit and flavors of the season to create favors which will be truly memorable. Here are a few ideas:
If you like the idea of edibles, and lets face it, edibles always go down well with wedding guests, then think about some home made delicacies. Mince pies are an obvious suggestion, but perhaps with a twist. For instance, make them with filo pastry or add some brandy and cranberries to the mincemeat.
Mini Christmas cakes, cinnamon cookies, gingerbread, mini yule logs, and savory pastries are other options for edibles. Or why not make you own mincemeat and package it in small jars? Mulled wine is popular tipple at Christmas and you could give small bottles of mulled wine or individual sachetes of mulled wine spice complete with recipe so your guests can make their own at home. Other edibles include chocolates, truffles, candies, candied fruits and liquor chocolates.
Candles are a popular feature at Christmas time and make wonderful wedding favors no matter what the time of year. Consider giving scented tea lights or votives in decorative holders. Have a trial run with them first to make sure the scent is not too potent! Look out for some whimsical festive themed candles too, particularly if your wedding is a casual and relaxed affair.
Look out for some unusual Christmas decorations. Website like Etsy offer handmade goods which could make for unusual and beautiful wedding favors. Look out for window decorations, mini wreathes, embroidered or beaded tree decorations and whimsical stocking holders! Another option is to look for wine glass charms with a festive theme, miniature photograph frames which can double as place card holders and themed bottle stoppers.
Finally, why not consider charitable wedding favors and donate your wedding favor budget to charity instead. There are many worthy charities at anytime of year, however, Christmas tends to make us think about those less fortunate than ourselves. Your wedding guests will be moved by the sentiment and will not miss their candy canes one little bit!
