Wedding Favors Within Your Budget

[ad_1]

Weddings are a costly affair so for many couples there is often a case to try and save money wherever possible, particularly later on in the wedding planning. Wedding favors are one element that couples will look to, to try to claw back some money within their budget. If your budget was realistic in the first instance then you should not have any problems, unless you have splurged elsewhere!

There is a temptation to forego the favors and instead use the money elsewhere, but wedding favors are an important part of the wedding day celebrations. The representative a small token of thanks to your guests for joining you on your special day and they also contribute greatly to the finishing touches on your reception tables. Although a proportion of your guests will probably not be at all bothered at not receiving a favor, there will also be more who will be somewhat disgruntled that you 'did not make the effort' – so you should always find the money to give out favors.

Although the wedding favor industry is now big business and the range of favors has never been so great, it is worth remembering that they are only small tokens of gratitude and as such you really do not need to spend a fortune on them. On average couples will spend around $ 4 per favor including packaging and decorations. Times this by a wedding guest list of 150 and the total cost is $ 600! That may well be more than your wedding dress cost or even your wedding cake.

Thankfully it is absolutely possible to create wedding favors for $ 1 or less, including the packaging. Here are a few ideas:

1. Go for edibles. They are always popular with wedding guests and are so cheap to buy. Candies and mints are the least expensive and colorful candies packaged in a clear cellophane bag look really pretty!

2. Make your own. Making your own favors is the cheapest option. Making your own cookies for example could cost you just a few dollars for the ingredients, but the effect on your guests will worth thousands! Your guests will really appreciate the effort you have gone to and homemade always tastes better!

3. Double up. Save money on other elements of your wedding by doubling your favorites up with something else. For instance use them as name cards, pile them up in the middle of the tables as centerpieces or use cupcakes or mini cakes in place of a formal wedding cake.

4. Dollar stores. Dollar stores are great places for picking up things like candles, tea lights or mini photograph frames. Watch out for the quality of the goods though and steer away from beauty products or edibles you have not tried out yourself first.

5. Forget the packaging. Packaging your favors can cost as much as the favor itself and for many types of favor it really is not necessary. Consider just adding a little ribbon and a thank you tag instead. It looks just as pretty and is better for the environment too!
