Distinctive Wedding Venues

[ad_1]

Couples these days are searching for ways to make their weddings feel unique and personal. Each bride and groom has their own style. For some, a classic venue like a hotel or country club suits them perfectly. Other nearbyweds, though, would be much happier with a more single location for their wedding.

Unique is in the eye of the beholder. If you come from a very conservative family, having your wedding in a local park or botanical garden instead of your country club might feel very daring. These outdoor locations are certainly beautiful; it is hard to argue with the glory of nature. To enhance the natural setting, festoon the trees with floral garlands, pomanders, and lanterns. A variation on this idea is to be married in a rooftop garden. You can use potted trees around the edges of the roof to help create an urban oasis. Without there is shelter, it would be best to plan an evening wedding. An nighttime reception would be magical with all of the city lights twinkling in the background.

For art lovers, museums and galleries are inspired choices. Many museums are available to host special events after hours. An art museum is one option; another great venue would be a natural history museum – how fun would it be to have your reception under the watchful gaze of a giant dinosaur? Museum halls tend to be very large and opulent, so they are ideal for grand weddings with large guest lists. The high ceilings and wide open areas will necessitate that your floral arrangements, wedding cake, and other décor items are equally large and impressive, so keep that in mind when evaluating the true cost of such a grand venue.

Galleries are smaller, making them perfect for intimate, sophisticated responses. The spaces are generally more contemporary, and can be very chic. The bride should choose a wedding gown that suits the location. For a gallery, eschew the poufy princess dress in favor of one that is elegant and stylish. Handmade wedding jewelry is the perfect finishing touch, because it is unique and personal. The slim lines of a bias cut sheath gown would be beautifully complemented by handmade wedding jewelry with Swarovski crystal cubes or briolettes. Keep your flowers sophisticated as well; think calla lilies or orchids.

The best way to select a location for your wedding is to choose a venue that is near and dear to your heart. Having a personal connection to the site will make your wedding even more meaningful. Beside, sometimes the most interesting locations are those that are not available to the general public. For instance, my best friend was married in an incredible Gothic stone "church" (it had been deconsecrated many years earlier). Her fiance had spent close to a decade lovingly restoring the building and converting it to a home. Their wedding was extra special because it was in a place of great significance to them. Hosting your wedding in a truly exceptional location will make it even more memorable for you and your guests.
