Most people don’t think about it, but performance centers like concert halls, opera houses or theaters are the perfect places to have a wedding. Why? For one, they are designed to host large crowds, which can obviously come in handy with the larger weddings, but can be used for smaller ones just the same. Performance centers also make great wedding venues because the acoustics are great and you won’t have to spend a great deal of money on decorating, depending on the type of performance center, because they usually are ornately decorated to begin with.
National Parks or Government-Owned Facilities
Can you imagine a bigger stage for your wedding other than a national park? National parks can be great wedding venues because they are incredibly spacious. However, keep in mind that because they are public facilities operated by local government, you may be required to limit your wedding party and/or obtain permits for the event. You may still find that the pros outweigh the cons as the picturesque landscaping may just be the perfect backdrop for your intimate ceremony.
Private Residences
Have you ever thought about having your ceremony at a friend’s house or your family’s vacation home? Friends’ houses, vacation homes, your own backyard or even a rented mansion or estate can make great wedding venues, particularly for the sentimental value it may hold. Having your ceremony at a private residence can also be a huge cost savings, particularly if you’re having your vacation home or a friend’s house, which can mean the potential to splurge on other aspects like entertainment, food or the honeymoon.
Hobby Facilities
As strange as it may seem initially, another great place to host a private ceremony is a hobby related facility. Specifically, couples may want to consider hosting their private event at a golf course, airplane hangar or even a baseball stadium. The thing that couples should remember with hobby facilities and all the other types of non-traditional nuptial locations is that sentimentality plays a key role along with the overall aesthetic look that you want to pull off for your wedding. Hobby-related facilities can represent the perfect union between what is near and dear to the couple as well as the grandeur that such an intimate ceremony deserves.
Nature or Other Geographic Locations
Although it is becoming increasingly popular to use nature or other geographic locations as traditional wedding venues, it’s still considered non-traditional. Specifically, couples should consider exchanging their vows in front of family and friends with a cave, lake, mountain, woods or forest as the backdrop. Aside from dealing with nature’s fine elements, the picturesque scenery could lend itself to quite a unique nuptial spot.
