The evolution of wedding trends has new brides moving away from traditional white gowns and black tuxedos to intense splashes of color among less formal surroundings. Recent surveys show brides shopping for tradition are far outnumbered by brides who want less stuffy, more casual ceremonies, complete with a color palette not seen in years past. Along with changes in ceremony and attire, trends in reception and wedding favors have also dictated a new style that has many brides welcomed and in agreement.
As a sharp contrast to traditional pastels, two colors gaining popularity for the latest wedding schemes are Tangerine Tango, a vibrant orange-red, and Cockatoo, a calming shade of turquoise. Interestingly enough, matching bouquets are also an available requirement for many brides-to-be. In addition, two neutral colors, aptly named Driftwood and Starfish, serve to add a depth of elegance and sophistication among bridesmaid dresses, table linens, and handwritten invitations.
When it comes to post-nuptial receptions, couples are choosing casual settings, with less-formal seating arrangements and more intimate, smaller tables and lounge areas. Many couples assert this takes nothing away from the day's import, and allows wedding and reception guests to relax and enjoy the activities, versus wanting to rush home to get comfortable. Among this new type of setting, soft lights and strategically placed candles or lamps serve to offer the optimal luminescence for the desired mood of the reception.
Once the reception ends and guests find themselves headed home, current trends will have them taking edible favors with them including truffles, cookies, fruit or cake as some of the more popular choices. These same sweet trees are also packaged in eco-friendly bags for guest distribution. Some couples are also opting to give plants, herbs, and wedding-themed gifts to their guests. Among what is considered the "hottest" favor choices are personalized options such as microbrew beers, flavored lip balms, and coffees.
As an alternative to wedding favors, some couples are choosing to offer tables with coffee, bottled water, cookies, chocolates, donuts or bagels. On the other hand, there are also brides who are opting for non -ible, practical favors that can be used time and again by guests in their own homes. Both options are trend-worthy, and serve to increase the amount of options and customization available to couples.
When it comes to weddings, it's important to be aware of trends as a way to keep pace with emerging options. However, the most important trend for brides-to-be is the happily ever after part, which is a trend that has stood the test of time.
