Reasons Why the Patio is My Favorite Part of the House

One of the delights of having a home is if you have a patio. Patios are excellent places to relax, have coffee or tea or read a book or just enjoy the restful atmosphere provided by a well-designed patio or deck.

The experience is enhanced further during the times of the year when the climate is cool and there is no need to roll down any patio canopy or awning. This is one part of the house that is best experienced roofless!

Patios are also a great place to invite friends over for some afternoon chat or an evening party. Imagine your patio being filled with close friends and family having dinner and then, afterwards, chatting like long lost friends while drinking wine and spirits. It is simply designed to be a part of the house that can be a venue of very memorable events.

There are two aspects that I place emphasis on when it comes to planning the overall ambience or look of a patio. First is the choice of furniture and second is the lighting.

Choosing the right patio furniture is one of those things that are easier said than done. If you wish to create a patio that will become a cozy and relaxing place when you want some peace and quiet then you will need to get the right furniture that will strengthen the patio into becoming such a place while not losing the ability to be transformed into a good party venue for larger groups of people.

A couple of wrought iron coffee tables does wonders to help make you feel at home. Partner it up with matching patio cushioned chairs made out of metal or some warm, sturdy wood like oak or mahogany and you've got your basic relaxing set. Having a couple of friends over for afternoon tea? An outdoor bamboo sofa would be good seating arrangements.

Having a larger group over for dinner and evening get together? You will need to have a bit more creative to accommodate a larger group in your patio but a large table or a few small garden tables will be great. If you are having that bar experience why not get bar stools? They are compact, portable and strong. They also make seating a big group an easier task.

A night party at the patio will be lacking if you do not make sure the lighting is not adequate and appropriate. The most basic patio lighting is string lights. They are pretty easy to install and they are great at creating that party mood. If you have umbrellas installed with your garden tables then one of the best lighting options is the umbrella light. Having these installed with your umbrellas provide adequate lighting per table. Additionally, putting step lights on the patio steps and railings to add put accents on the details of your patio.

The patio is one of the best places, if not the best, to get that relaxing mood that can be a big boon after a hard day or week at work. The great thing is, you can share that experience with your friends and family when they come over. In a way, patios make your home feel more like a home!
