Selecting the Perfect Wedding And-Or Reception Venue on a Budget

[ad_1]

The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, the leaves are rustling in the gentle breeze; the day is perfect. This is how you imagine your wedding day. Perfect!

Finding the perfect wedding venue can be one of the most exciting aspects of your wedding planning and also one of the most frustrating. You want to get this right. You want this to be remembered for all the right reasons. Therefore, you need to place time and effort into this as this is something that will be remembered by all.

Decide on whether you will be changing your wedding vows at a location other than the wedding reception venue. You may be changing your wedding vows in a church or you may have decided to exchange your wedding vows outside, at a beach or parkland for example. Will the venue accommodate a late change in case you are rained out and you need to exchange your vows inside?

You do not have to spend a large amount of money to have a great wedding venue. Look at several venues to compare before you decide and pay a deposit. If you can not picture in your mind how the venue will look with tables and decorations, ask the staff if you are able to view the set up of another wedding before making a decision.

If you can not resist a particularly popular location for your wedding considering having your wedding off-peak, mid week or in the morning to reduce costs.

While receptions at lunch or dinner time are still the most popular there are people who are having wedding receptions at other times of the day and often this will be more cost effective where different foods and alcohol are consumed.

There are other savings to be made by having your reception earlier in the day. Musicians for instance normally perform late afternoon or evening therefore by hiring their services earlier in the day you could expect a reduced rate.

Also, by having your reception earlier in the day this will allow you to get to your wedding night accommodation earlier, giving you that special time together to enjoy some chocolates, champagne and an early evening together.

You may have decided on a garden wedding in a friend's home or your own home if you do not have a large guest list. You will not need transport from the wedding to the reception. Family can also get involved with the catering and decorations, another cost reduction.

If you do not know anyone who has a suitable home and garden, think about hiring someone else's home for your wedding. A holiday home in the country or at the beach would be ideal for small personal weddings. You will still need to hire caterers and personalize, however this would be substantially cheaper than a traditional reception venue. Do not forget to ask permission from the owners or rental agency.

When viewing potential venues rely on your instincts! You will know as soon as you enter a venue whether it feels right. If in doubt, leave it out, for the moment anyway. If it is a definite no to a venue, then go on to the next one. If you are unsure then make a list of your feelings and compare to other events. There may be minimal reasons as to why you are not feeling 100% happy with a particular venue however with a little thought you may be able to exceed whatever is bothering you. Keep an open mind and be realistic. Remember if you are on a budget you may have to compromise.

Ideally, you should start looking for a venue at least a year before the wedding date or as soon possible after deciding on the wedding date if under a year. This will give you sufficient time to make the right decisions.

Whatever you do at the reception will generally be dictated by your finances, though with a little imagination you can create something that you will be proud to present to family and friends.

After you have decided on the wedding venue of your dreams ensure you get all the details in a signed written agreement as well as a receipt for any deposit paid. Check with the venue on the cancellation policy in detail in case something unforeseen happens and a late minute change of venue is required.
