The Do-It-Yourself Wedding

[ad_1]

Here are just a few hints for all of you that are planning your own wedding.

First things first: Your Budget! If you are paying for your wedding yourself then you will need to know how much you will be able to spend on each aspect of your wedding. You may or may not have some of the following items for your wedding but it is worth taking a look:

Rings (one or two ring ceremony), transportation (limo, attendants cars, guest transport, etc), hair and make-up, reception (venue fee, cost of food & catering fee if caterer is being used, beverages, cake, decorations , favors, music, tent rental, etc) and honeymoon expenses.

Put together a guest list … you will need to know approximately how many you will be inviting so that you can pick a venue that is either large enough or not too large for the amount of family and friends that you plan on inviting.

If you are having your wedding / reception at a venue other than your own home or at a park, you will need to ask that you are hiring to use. Some questions you may want to ask are:

• What is the fee for renting the venue and what does the fee include?

• How much deposit is required and when is the rest of the fee payable?

• How long can the venue be used for that fee?

• What are the hourly charges if the time allotted is exceeded?

• Is there a security deposit required?

• What is the refund policy?

Next, be sure to book your officiant early enough so that you will not be disappointed. Officiants, clergy and JPs similarly book up fairly quickly especially as we approach the warmer weather.

Your hair and make-up:

visit your favorite hair stylist approximately 2 weeks before the wedding and have him or her experiment with hair styles you may like for your wedding day. Do not EVER try something new the day before or worse yet, the day of your wedding! The same goes for your make-up. Be sure it is going to work for you BEFORE the big day.

Flowers:

In order to save a bit on your wedding flowers be sure to pick flowers that are in season and available locally. Check with multiple florists and get quotes.

Photographer:

Unless you have a family member or friend who can take professional photographs you are going to want to hire a photographer. Your wedding photos should last a lifetime and then some. Be sure that you get great photos of your special day.

There is plenty to do to prepare for your wedding but remember one very important thing … do not stress out! You want to be able to enjoy your day with your new spouse so plan as early as you possibly can.
