Wedding and reception venues should reflect the taste of a newlywed couple. Literally any place can be the site of the celebration as long as it can accommodate the guest list, is safe and accessible. However, a few venues are especially popular for being timeless where no matter how many times they're used, they never fail to deliver.
Wineries
Wineries have gorgeous landscapes and being surrounded by acres of carefully grown grapes can bring romance to the air. Whether it's a quiet affair or a lively party, they're versatile in that they can conform to both. Wine lovers, in particular, will have a gala time as many wineries offer discounted vintages. Clients may also be permitted to take along their own choice of wine although choosing a winery's selection puts an experimental touch to the nuptials and may even permit a discount.
Chapels
Forget grand churches which are fine for grand weddings but can be pain to decorate and are expensive too. Chapels are more intimate, picturesque and easier to work with. They have a fairytale quality that's difficult to pull off at other venues. No wonder they remain one of the choicest places to hold nuptials. Artful photography, creative decorations and a small guest list are all that's needed to turn chapels into charming wedding venues.
Riverfronts
Few sites can beat riverfronts in terms of natural beauty. Since it's common for marinas and docks to line the banks, choosing a riverfront that has parks guarantees more privacy and seclusion.
A point to remember is that riverfronts look best on clear, sunny days as gloomy weather can usher in the cold. However, if rain is not forecast and the weather is not particularly chilly, strategically placed decorations, seating and installing sources of heat will drive the gloom away.
Gardens
Gardens are another choice venue both for weddings and receptions. Most private gardens are too small to host such events but those owned by estates can be requested to hire out space. The same applies to public gardens.
One of the best features of a garden wedding or reception is space to set up elegant marquees. Decorations can be minimal as the gardens provide all the décor needed. The marquees themselves speak of understated elegance and if done up with small bouquets of flowers and ribbons, well-planned seating arrangements and ambient lighting, there's no need for additional decorations.
Museums
Cultural buildings like museums provide a pretty backdrop for weddings and receptions. Getting a permit will prove to be a little difficult especially if the museum is a landmark. It does not hurt to try, however, as these cultural buildings are places of interest and guests will be kept entertained for hours.
Another plus point is photo opportunities. Whether it's natural history, automobile or air museums, only a few venues provide such varied backdrops for photography.
Country houses
For a higher price, country houses can be rented for a magical wedding and reception. There are venue planners that cater exclusively to country house events. What's best about these places is that you do not only get a house that's beautifully furnished but immaculately kept grounds as well. Decorations, menus and entertainment can be provided if the planning is left up to the rental service. Most country houses are large enough to accommodate a couple of hundred guests so they're the best venues to choose for a big wedding.
